Hwa Jeong Elementary School

Posted by Tony Rubino Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Ok everyone…here is where I work!!!  I am teaching English at Hwa Jeong Elementary school in the city of Goyang which is very near Seoul.  My first week has been great so far.  I have been helping to teach grade 4 and 5 students.  Non Korean English teachers are paired up with native Korean teachers and you work very closely in planning and implementing lesson plans.  The good news is that you only have to plan 2 or 3 lessons per week.  The bad news is that you have to teach each one 10 to 15 times per weeks…yup. But I will say by the time you teach the last class…you are pretty good at giving the lesson.  Every class is different though so it’s not that bad.  There are usually about 40 children per class and I help teach 8 grade 5 classes and 8 or so grade 4 classes. Here are some pictures of my school. I will post some of the kids next time.

Here is the English Departments office…my desk is in the first picture.

  2. Dan Said,

    Nice office chair!

That's pretty small for an elementary school, eh? ;)
